Bribri Ceremonial Cacao Paste 500 g

£55.00

Minimally processed, Indigenous-made ceremonial cacao from Costa Rica.

A traditional cacao paste from the Bribri Indigenous communities of Talamanca, Costa Rica, made using traditional methods and carrying a deep cultural history.

Cacao has been part of Bribri life for generations. In Bribri cosmology, cacao — known as Tsirú — holds sacred significance and is connected to the creation story of the Bribri people and the creator spirit, Sibö. Cacao has traditionally accompanied ceremonies and rites, while also being enjoyed as food and drink in everyday life.

Our cacao is cultivated and processed close to the land. The cacao beans are fermented, dried, traditionally roasted and ground into a rich, natural cacao paste.

Pure cacao paste — no unnecessary ingredients or additives.
